What is Syclo?
English is a silly language.
There are 26 letters in the English alphabet, but we need 44 sounds to pronounce them.
Take this sentence: ‘On Mondays I go to Singapore’. The letter ‘o’ appears 5 times, but it’s pronounced differently each time.
Ridiculous.
Syclo is 44 'graphemes’ to represent those 44 sounds we use to pronounce the language (Don't clap. Hindi, Arabic, Japanese and a hundred other languages have been doing the same thing for millennia).
I created Syclo for an art project which combined music, art, and text. But it had to be text which wouldn't draw focus from the image or reveal the meaning behind the musical choices. Syclo can be used to write anything in English, but without the key, it couldn't be read. All very clever I think you'll agree, but...
